  • Paul Piercy and Corbridge Middle School: Art of Social Justice, with photographs and artwork by students from CoMusica Arches

    Tuesday 7 April 2015 to Thursday 30 April 2015
    • Art teacher Gaynor Walker Thomas at Corbridge Middle School in Northumberland asked children from Years 7 and 8 to think about the meaning of justice and what they understand by human rights. They discussed events that are current or from the past where they think justice was done or recognize there was a fight for justice and were asked to respond by producing a drawing or painting with a media of their choice.

Photographs and artwork by students from CoMusica Arches have also been included in the show at Sanctuary Artspace.

Their work is part of an exhibition organised by Journey to Justice as part of their month-long programme of exhibitions, courses, music, art, films, walks and talks in the North East. Please see the website: for full details.

Paul Piercy is a local portrait painter – much of his work is focused on human rights defenders to bear witness, raise awareness, inform and inspire.
